![]() ![]() I was not sure about this as it does not make complete sense to me whether I should use this folder. Regarding location of files on the same page, I had said custom location as c:\MyName\OneDrive\Literature. Under General settings for Zotfile, I have Source folder for Attaching New files as c:\MyName\OneDrive\Literature This is c:\MyName\OneDrive\Literature (of course MyName is just the plaeholder for posting here) I have designated one folder on this for all my attachments (i.e., pdfs). I have a OneDrive account through Office 365 and sync'd it to my laptop. I have Zotero installed on my laptop as a standalone app (may also install Firefox add on if needed). Let me know if I am on the right path before I transfer all my library (getting close to 10,000 now) to Zotero. Still a little confusing to me, but I think I am slowly getting it. Last option is to use Zotero web storage, but I want to avoid double costs as I am already paying for OneDrive through Office365.Īre there any simple solutions? If this does not work with Zotero, I can use another software (any suggestions?). This is not useful, for two reasons (1) I want to use multiple laptops and have an ability to sync across so that I can get the attachments from any of them, (2) The other option of using an external hard drive works, but then I am not sure how to sync the database and also there is the risk of disk failure. (Alternately, it does not seem to have an option to add the web link in Zotfile preferences.) However, this does not seem to work as any file I add goes to the standard Zotero/storage folder. Zotfile was recommended, which I downloaded and put this Onedrive sync'd folder link in the Zotfile preferences. What I want is to add tags or folders so that I can easily retrieve from my database. Ability to insert references in documents is nice to have, but not essential. For space issues on the laptop it is set up as cloud only (free up space option). I have a OneDrive sync'd folder on my laptop. When using the actual account username and password, the URL is /remote.php/webdav.Can someone please help? I read through some instructions on the web, but they do not seem to be working for me. The URL /public.php/webdav is correct when using a sharing secret for the credentials. Now, in Zotero client, configure Sync (Edit -> Preferences -> Sync) as follows: Set File Syncing mode to WebDAV, as URL put /public.php/webdav, and as username as well as password use the sharing secret (the last part of the URL). In my Nextcloud instance, I created a folder PhD/Zotero/zotero and configured and configured the directory PhD/Zotero to be accessible and editable using a link. ![]() Since the name of the folder configured to be shared does not show up in the URL, within the shared folder there has to be the zotero folder containing the actual synchronized attachments. Also consider if you want to use your global Nextcloud credentials (which I don’t recommend to do) or to create a dedicated shared folder for this, which will provide you with extra credentials just for this purpose. Please note that Zotero requires the path to end with zotero. Configuring the Synchronization of your Zotero Library to Nextcloudįirst, we need to create a folder in Nextcloud. Actually, it is quite easy to configure it accordingly, however, I spent some time on finding that out and there are also some open posts in the Zotero forums, therefore I’m going to document my solution here. Since I have a running Nextcloud instance with WebDAV support, I decided to use my Nextcloud for the synchronization. Zotero offers paid plans to increase the storage limit, or to use own, WebDAV based, storage. While synchronizing the bibliography entries meta data (authors, title, …) seems to be free and unlimited, only 300MB of document storage are for free per account. Zotero allows for attaching files to an entry, and furthermore allows for synchronizing the library as all as the attachments. Therefore, I decided to always keep a digital copy of the document I’ve just read, just to ensure to be able to access the exact same version I have accessed before. In this blog post, I show how to configure Zotero to synchronize your Zotero Library to Nextcloud.įor some of the research papers I’ve read during my research activities, there are several (mostly, but not always, similar) versions, for some other papers it is very difficult to find the document. It’s free, it’s great, and it fits perfectly for my needs. For my research, I’m using Zotero for bibliography management. ![]()
